Rana Basu – President
Rana is an experienced commodities trading risk and systems professional with exposure to American, European, Asian and Middle Eastern trading contexts and business cultures. A diverse background in trading and risk management, sales, engineering, accounting and IT provides unique insights on business imperatives in commodities trading, regulatory issues, and the overlap between trading commercials, operations and corporate systems. In the last 15 years, he has been responsible for the controls, processes and systems providing risk management capabilities for various market participants from oil majors, trading companies, refiners, service providers, to banks and hedge funds in the liquid hydrocarbons space. For 11 years, he was part of the delivery and services organization at Amphora Inc. and founded the Center of Expertise within Amphora – a shared business analysis resource pool supporting risk management initiatives with clients, business partners and internally. Companies served or partnered with include Chevron, Koch Supply and Trading, Sinclair, Petroplus, Marathon, Mercuria, PetroChina, Centaurus, ENI, ENEL, Mitsubishi, Mitsui, Noble, Caltex, Transcor Astra, RBS Sempra, UBS, Platts, CME (Nymex), MRE, Accenture, PWC, Deloitte, Sapient among others. Rana has a BE in Power Plant engineering from Jadavpur University (India) and a MLHR from the Fisher college of Business at the Ohio State University.
Manoharan Arunachalasamy – Partner, Technology Services
Mano is an experienced IT professional specializing in Enterprise Application Design and Development. Mano has extensive experience with analysis, design, development, customization, integration, implementation, testing and delivery management of software systems for various Fortune 500 Companies (Boeing, AIG, Microsoft, American Express, Conagra, Anthem) using a wide variety of Tools, Technologies and Platforms for over 16 years. For 5 years, he led the development organization at Amphora Inc. and was responsible for definition, design, development and maintainence of the Technology Roadmap for Symphony, the flagship Energy Trading and Risk Management product of Amphora. For 3 years, he was part of the Technology Architecture Group at Anthem Inc., the nation’s largest Healthcare Provider, integrating systems across various technologies such as MainFrame, Java, .Net on a Service Oriented Architecture.
Mano has a BTech in Chemical engineering from Anna University (India).
Aravind Rao – Partner, Cloud Services
Aravind is a career software engineering professional. He has extensive experience in developing various software solutions for oil field services companies, including Baker Hughes and Schlumberger. Aravind has proven experience in requirements gathering, software design and development. He has successfully designed, developed and delivered several greenfield software applications. Before working as an independent consultant, Aravind was a consultant Manager at a subsidiary of Capgemini consulting group.
Aravind has a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from University of Mysore (India).
Rama Pakala – Chairman, Board of Advisors
Rama brings over 20 years of experience in building commodities trading systems with a primary focus on hydrocarbons trading. He has played key roles in managing Product design, developing and implementing comprehensive ETRM systems and laying out Product Strategy.He has advised on technology selection, IT stack, ERP/ETRM interfacing, Data warehousing and consolidated reporting among other technology initiatives.
Rama holds a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Houston
Sudesh Pillutla – Member, Board of Advisors
Sudesh Pillutla is a Chemical Engineer by education and has 28 years of industry experience of which 12 years are in the area of technology and process design of refining and petroleum processes and 16 years in the downstream supply chain operation primarily implementing SAP Oil & Gas solution at various refining and chemical companies. Sudesh has lead and executed various SAP IS-Oil projects. Sudesh’s experience include end to end solutions for order to cash and procure to pay processes, developing various rack solutions, scheduling and supply logistics using SAP TSW and SolArc’s Rightangle, interfacing with various ETRM solutions such as Rightangle, Vendavo and Triple Point. Sudesh also has solid experience in Project execution and management. Some of Sudesh’s clients are Ultramar Diamond Shamrock, Valero, Tesoro, BP, Conoco Phillips, Frontier Refining, Shell Chemical, Chevron Phillips Chemicals, Ergon Refining, Exxon Mobil corporation.
